Jowett Javelin DeLuxe 1951
2018 British Autojumble - Waalwijk (NL)

During the early post-war years the Jowett Javelin was the most modern British car on the market. It featured a pressed steel unibody construction, independent suspension on all four wheels, an one-piece panoramic windshield and a streamlined design. Power came from a 1500 cc water-cooled boxer engine placed in front.
The car proved a success for this relatively minor manufacturer; over 23,000 were sold from 1947 till 1954. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to secure the future of Jowett; after diminishing sales due to tax reforms and their bodywork supplier being acquired by the competition Jowett had to close its doors in 1954.
