Ford Model T Frontenac speedster 1912
2018 Nationale Oldtimerdag - Lelystad (NL)

After Louis Chevrolet had left General Motors he teamed up with his two brothers to form the Frontenac Motor Company in Indianapolis in 1915. The company mostly concentrated on building racing cars and manufacturing performance parts. They were very competitive in the Indianapolis 500, with Louis winning the race in 1921.
Frontenac racing cars were mostly based on Fords and often referred to as "Fronty Fords". The special cylinder heads and valve assemblies Frontenac made to soup up Ford Model T engines were very effective and used in dirt-track racing up to the 1940s. For the company the end came much sooner; Frontenac had to close its doors in 1924 as a result of over-investing in the development of a production car.
This car is a fine example of a 1912 Ford Model T having been rebuilt and modified later in its life into a rakish sports car by the Chevrolet brothers.
