The Allard K2 touring roadster was an evolution of the preceding K1 model and the first (together with the J2) to show the typical Allard grill. It was introduced in 1949 as a bit more refined counterpart to the very basic J2 competition roadster. Standard engine was a British Ford 221 (3.6 liter) flathead V8 or American Mercury 239 (3.9 liter) V8 but other engine options were also possible. This car, chassis K1986, for instance is fitted with the powerful Cadillac 331 (5.4 liter) V8, made famous by its many racing victories powering the J2 model. Combined with the car's lightweight aluminum body and its independent coil sprung front suspension it made for a very fast and capable sports car.
During its 1949 till 1952 production span only 117 K2 cars were made, of which 87 still exist.
