The last DeTomaso production model (not counting the Bigua which was developed by DeTomaso but manufactured by Qvale) is probably also the least known. It was the replacement for the famous Pantera and it was named the Guara. There was a coupe, a spider and this barchetta version. Carlo Gaino of Synthesis Design was responsible for the styling and the car was powered by a BMW V8 placed behind the front seats. The last batch (starting in 1998) of Guara cars was fitted with a Ford V8.
Production numbers were very limited. During the 1993-2004 production run about 40 coupes, 4 spiders and 10 barchettas were made. Only 7 barchettas had the BMW V8, of which this is number 6.
