Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Turismo cabriolet by Castagna 1931
2017 Antwerp Concours - Wijnegem (B)
The 6C 1750 Gran Turismo (S5) chassis featured the more powerful (55 hp) twin cam version of the 6 cylinder engine, where the Turismo model had a single overhead camshaft and 46 hp. There was also a rare Gran Turismo Compressore version, which featured the slightly detuned (80 hp) supercharged engine of the Gran Sport model (which was offered with 85 hp). In 1931 the Gran Turismo was the best sold Alfa Romeo model, around 250 were made.
It was refreshing to see a luxury version of Alfa Romeo's classic 6 cylinder model, instead of the more popular Gran Sport roadsters. According to legend this car was once a gift to famous racing driver Tazio Nuvolari.
