Buick offered woodies ("a car body style with rear bodywork constructed of wood framework with infill wood panels") up to the 1953 model year. That was longer than any other American car manufacturer. Looking at this car I think I can see why: the workmanship is wonderful, it really enhances what otherwise might have been a very utilitarian car. Discerning customers at the time must have loved the luxurious and stylish aspects that the wood construction in this wagon offered.
Even so the 1952 Buick Super wagon didn't sell very well with 1641 cars produced. Its longer and more luxurious sister car, the Roadmaster wagon, was even less successful with only 359 cars produced. Still it's a wonderful wagon which is rarely seen here in Europe.
