The Maserati 5000 GT was one of the most powerful and exclusive Gran Turismo cars of its day. It was powered by the 5 liter V8 of the Maserati 450 S competition sports car, and produced about 325 hp in the 5000 GT. Derived from a custom made car for the Shah of Persia a limited production run followed between 1959 and 1964.
In total 33 cars were made, including 22 cars with a body by Allemano, considered more or less as the standard body for this model. Designer Giovanni Michelotti was responsible for the styling. The car shown here has chassis number AM103052.
