Matford V8-F92A 1939
2014 Elf Steden Oldtimer Rally - Wijckel (NL)

From 1934 till 1940 Ford produced V8 engined cars in France in collaboration with Mathis. The resulting cars were branded Matford and positioned at the top end of the middle class market. The American designs were slightly adapted to French taste and demands, most notably the trunk and the chrome trim. In 1939 the bonds with Mathis were severed and from the 1940 model year the cars were sold under the Ford France banner.
The car shown here is probably a transitional model, with the Matford design but not the badge. Also the chrome trim is slightly different, which makes it likely that this French Ford was assembled in the Dutch Ford assembly plant in Amsterdam.
