Monet & Goyon VM 1924
2017 Nationale Oldtimerdag - Lelystad (NL)

Monet & Goyon was a well-known French motorcycle manufacturer from 1917 till the end in 1959. But in their early years one of their main products were hand driven 3-wheeled vehicles for the many invalids that returned from the first World War. Pretty soon these vehicles were motorized which ultimately lead to Monet & Goyon's only 4-wheeled vehicle: a cycle car named the type VM.
It was produced between 1924 and 1927 and powered by a 350 cc 2-stroke engine, driving the rear wheels by chain. Unfortunately it wasn't very successful, in part due to its diminutive size in combination with a rather powerful engine (it was rated in the 4 CV tax category, so essentially twice as powerful as the considerably larger Citroen 2CV that came much later), making it a dangerous drive. When the tax benefits for cycle cars in France were ended, Monet & Goyon stopped production of 4-wheelers to concentrate on their far more successful 2-wheeler production.
