This was the first of the so-called Aston Martin Lagondas, developed after David Brown, also owner of Aston Martin, had acquired this venerable British company. Mechanically it was based on the Aston Martin DB 4 and 5 and the exterior shows a distinct Italian influence. Carrozzeria Touring of Milan was responsible for styling the car, but it was completely built in Britain, following the Superleggera process.
It was a very expensive car and ultimately only 55 were made during its three year production period. Apparently each one differed a little from the other and for each car sold the company suffered a loss of 1000 pound sterling...
