The Squire is an extremely rare British sports car built to the higest standards. According to legend Adrian Squire began working on designing his cars at the tender age of 14. Seven years later, in 1931, the Squire Car Manufacturing Company was founded. In 1934 the first car left the factory: a very advanced lightweight car powered by a supercharged 1.5 Litre 4-cylinder engine built by British Anzani. The engine produced 110 hp, propelled the car from 0 to 96 kph in 10 seconds and to a top speed of 169 kph. Figures that even today are still impressive.
At the time this performance was considered to be only slightly less than that of a Grand Prix car, so in a way it was an early super car. It had a price to mach, being prohibitively expensive. As a result only 7 cars were sold in total: 5 with short chassis and 2 with long chassis. All came with a 100 mile per hour (160 kph) guarantee. After 1936 Adrian Squire closed his factory and was employed by Lagonda.
The stylish and unique body for this particular car was made by British coachbuilder Ranalah, formerly John Charles & Co, a well-known name at the time.
