2016 Classic Days Schloss Dyck - Aldenhoven (D)

Rometsch was a coach-building company in Berlin, Germany which offered special bodywork on the Volkswagen T1 Beetle platform during the 1950s. From 1957 a design by local stylist Bert Lawrence was offered in the shape of a coupe or a convertible. In total 85 were built until production was ceased in 1961. It's said that the construction of the Berlin wall was the reason for the end of the Rometsch Lawrence: its aluminum body was largely made by East German metal workers who couldn't be easily replaced after the "iron curtain" came into effect.
