Abarth 750 GT coupe by Viotti 1956
2020 Antwerp Classic Salon - Antwerpen (B)

In 1956 Abarth started road car production with Fiat 600 based models. The Abarth 750 GT version became best known with the iconic Zagato made fastback coupe body, but in the early years other body styles were considered as well, like this hardtop coupe style by coachbuilder Viotti. In 1957 a 750 Mille Miglia version with Vignale body was shown and in 1958 a 750 spyder by Allemano was introduced which was joined by a much rarer coupe version. The latter evolved into the better known Abarth 850 Scorpione coupe by Allemano in 1959.
Only a handful were made of the 750 GT by Viotti, and the car shown here was Abarth's prototype. Viotti also offered the same body (designed by Giovanni Michelotti) on the standard Fiat 600 chassis, of which around 100 were made.
