Westfalia 8/22 PS 2-seater recreation 1911
2018 Classic Days Schloss Dyck - Aldenhoven (D)

This car has nothing to do with the popular camper vans sold under the same name. The Westfalia car was a product of the Ramesohl & Schmidt company, located in Oelde in the Westfalia region of Germany. This company was (and still is) specialized in the construction of milk separator machines but branched out into car manufacture in 1906. A number of middle class models with 2 and 4 cylinder engines were produced up to the start of the first World War in 1914, after which car production was abandoned. The production of some Westfalia models was sold to Hansa in 1913.
The company itself is still in business as the GEA Westfalia Separator Group. Since none of the around 300 produced Westfalia cars have survived, the company started an intern student education project to recreate a model, following original designs and using some reconditioned original parts and components (like the engine and transmission). After 5 years of work this is the result.
