This car is a good example of why you should always check the background of a rare classic if you consider investing in it: the sign said it's number 6 of 20 Can-Am big block versions of the second series Grifo. That should be chassis #341. After some digging I found this is actually chassis #340, a "regular" small block Grifo which later has been fitted with the engine and transmission of the crashed #345 Grifo Can-Am. Clearly not a "matching numbers" car, which should have repercussions on its value.
